About the Role
The Senior Accountant is based in Nicosia and works closely with the Institutional Relations, Admissions, Enrollment and Program Management teams.
Requirements and Qualifications
Fluency in English and Greek (written and oral)
Excellent communication skills (written and oral)
Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to work effectively with multi-cultural
multi-destination co-workers and clients and be a team player
University Degree in Accounting
Proven knowledge of bookkeeping and accounting principles, practises,
standards, laws and regulations
Proven knowledge of VAT And Tax Law
High attention to detail and accuracy
Ability to take initiatives, and work independently to complete tasks solve
problems and achieve results
Advanced computer skills, including MS office, accounting software and
databases
Strong passion to help students make the most of their education abroad
Preferred:
Approximately 5 years’ experience in a similar role
Professional qualification ACCA/ACA/CPA
Audit background will be considered as a strong advantage
Knowledge of Quickbooks accounting software
Responsibilities and Duties
The Senior Accountant is based in Nicosia and works closely with the Institutional Relations, Admissions, Enrollment and Program Management teams.
The successful candidate will report to the Director of Accounting and will ensure the smooth running of the company’s accounting function.
Responsibilities include:
The management of the daily operations of the accounting department of GLI, Global Semesters and other affiliate companies
Create program budgets for Global Semesters regular programs as well as custom programs requested by University clients
Managing the accounts receivable function, issuing correct invoices and monitoring the collection of fund
Managing the accounts payable function to ensure proper and accurate disbursement of company funds
Preparation of financial statements and reports on a monthly, quarterly and annual basis
Preparation of VAT tax returns
Recording of transactions in the accounting software in a timely and accurate manner
Monitoring and analysing accounting data to produce ad hoc reports as needed
Establishing proper accounting procedures and processes
Coordinating and providing support to external auditors for the completion of the annual audits
Meeting financial accounting objectives and completing tasks in a timely and efficient manner with tight deadlines
Establishing and maintaining fiscal files and records to document transactions
Providing daily ‘End of Day’ (EOD) reports outlining tasks completed, tasks pending, and outstanding issues requiring resolution
Other administrative activities to support the mission of the program coordinators, institutional relations and university participants, as needed
Provide excellent customer service via telephone and email
Any other tasks as assigned
